Detectable plastic for use in the food sector
|
 |
Components made from engineering plastics are becoming increasingly common in machinery used in the food industry. Such components may come into contact with food during the production process, and parts of various sizes may contaminate the product if they are damaged. The result is damage to the health of the consumer.

|
The issue has prompted a requirement for all plastic parts that may come into contact with food to be detectable. CENTRODAL MD possesses precisely that property. The metal detectors that are routinely fitted to such machinery in the food industry pick up this magnetically detectable plastic even if the particles are just a few millimetres in size, and extract them reliably from the product. |

Compliance with foodstuff regulations to BfR/FDA The key operating properties are preserved, despite the material's modification. CENTRODAL MD satisfies the BfR/FDA legal requirements for direct contact with food.
CENTRODAL MD is based on the engineering plastic polyoximethylene (POM). CENTRODAL MD can be supplied in the form of both rods and plates. Modification of other materials, such as PA 6 and PET, is possible.
Properties/advantages
- Reduced costs, thanks to use of cheaper plastic instead of expensive materials like stainless steel
- Low energy consumption by conveyor systems thanks to lighter plastic parts
- Compliance with foodstuff regulations to BfR/FDA
- Optimum machining properties
- Even small particles highly detectable
- Visually easily recognizable by blue coloratio
